Mrs. Lusia Hamul and Her Business

Lusia Hamul is a mother who comes from Pangga Village, Kuwus District, West Manggarai Regency. Since 2017, she has started a kiosk business that sells groceries. While running the business, she faced many challenges, especially regarding capital for business development.

Ibu Lusia started a business with a capital of IDR 5,000,000. Every day, she tries his best to expand his business, especially by seeking additional capital. She had borrowed from a daily cooperative. However, this cannot develop its business any better because the interest is also billed daily. If it is calculated into the monthly interest, the interest withdrawal is 20%. This condition is very burdensome for her family and business.

In 2021, Gugah Nurani Indonesia assisted the establishment of the Sinar Nurani Mandiri Cooperative. Then, Ibu Lusia joined the Sinar Pagi Pangga group, accompanied by the cooperative. Ibu Lusia is one of 15 members who owns a kiosk business. Upon receiving information and outreach from cooperative officers, she was interested in joining a cooperative.

Mrs. Lusia made a loan to the cooperative in the amount of Rp. 2,000,000 with an interest of 1.5%. To her, the amount of this interest is quite helpful. Over time, KSNM changed the concept of a fixed 1.5% interest to a declining 1.5%. She is benefitted from this concept of funding. Moreover, she explained that her daily income has started to increase. Previously, it was around Rp. 100,000 and now has increased slightly around Rp. 200,000 to Rp. 300,000.

Ibu Lusia is happy and has no problems at all in the process of repaying the cooperative loan. She felt grateful for the presence of this cooperative. "Hopefully, this cooperative will become the pillar of the teacher or the main pillar for improvement for entrepreneurs in the future," said Mrs. Lusia.
