Years of impact

Gugah Nurani Indonesia is a development Non-Government Organization (NGO) that works based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in child rights fulfillment and community development to ensure that children and communities grow with rights, opportunities, and a promising future.

We were founded through the initiative of Good Neighbors, an international humanitarian organization from South Korea established in 1991. Together with communities, We strive to broaden access, open up opportunities, and deliver meaningful change through genuine care, inspiring and awakening hearts throughout Indonesia.

History of GNI

2005

Good Neighbors first arrived in Indonesia in 2005 to provide emergency relief for the tsunami disaster in Meulaboh, Aceh. Various relief efforts were carried out in collaboration with other NGOs to accelerate the recovery process. This arrival marked the beginning of Good Neighbors's journey in Indonesia and the initial planning for the establishment of Good Neighbors Indonesia.

2008

Good Neighbors Indonesia's journey began with:

  1. Good Neighbors Indonesia officially established in Indonesia as part of Good Neighbors's Partnership Country.
  2. Meulaboh Family Development Project pertama diresmikan sebagai bentuk shifting dari Emergency Response Meulaboh.
  3. Good Neighbors Indonesia's Headquarter established in Jakarta.
  4. CDP (Community Development Project) di Rawa Badak Selatan di Jakarta diresmikan sebagai CDP pertama setelah intervensi di Meulaboh.

2009

After 1 year of operation, we started a new phase with:

  1. Implementation of CDP concept in Good Neighbors Indonesia.
  2. Establishment of Medan Belawan CDP, North Sumatera and Menteng Tenggulun CDP, Jakarta.
  3. Inauguration of Good Neighbors Indonesia as a local foundation with the name Gugah Nurani Indonesia based on the decision of the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
  4. First involvement in Emergency Response intervention in West Sumatera.

2010

Gugah Nurani Indonesia continues to grow and involved in various community development projects, some of our efforts include:

  1. Involvement in Emergency Response intervention for Mount Merapi eruption in Yogyakarta.
  2. Starting the first project from the Education Sector for School Construction Project funded by KOICA in Batang Gasan, Padang Pariaman, West Sumatera.
  3. Inauguration of Padang CDP, Cakung CDP, Sukabumi CDP, and Bogor Cileuksa CDP.

Working Area

Since 2008, Gugah Nurani Indonesia has successfully expanded its collaboration with various parties. Now, our reach in Gugah Nurani Indonesia has become wider. Therefore, more children receive assistance, access education, health, and better opportunities for the future. The more parties that contribute, the wider the reach of fulfilling children's rights.

Gugah Nurani Indonesia Focus

We plan and implement projects that respect the human rights of children based on our unchanging belief in human dignity, under the principle of faithfully fulfilling the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

We expand our network by mobilizing the human and material resources of communities in the field, encouraging them to actively engage in our projects as an organized group of volunteers, partners, and community committees.

We conduct advocacy projects, such as campaigns, government policies, and seminars to promote our projects and raise awareness of governments or the general public as part of citizenship education.
